[An outrageously shameless, self-absorbed, convinced-he’s-the-best-at-everything, ridiculously handsome, competitive and self-deluding top VS a sweet-talking, playing-the-fool-to-catch-the-wise-at-first, can’t-be-bothered-with-you-later, deceptive man-eating flower of a beauty who holds everyone to double standards]

This novel was originally titled: After Losing My Human Status, I Passed the National Civil Service Exam
Chi Xianyu was a model student. He grew up in an orphanage, got into one of the country’s top universities, and went on to earn his doctorate without a hitch.
He never expected that just after earning his PhD, a sudden fire would leave him kidnapped and completely at the mercy of his captors.
By the time he opened his eyes and came to, he was being held hostage by a blond thug who was planning to flee abroad with him. There was even a “state-appointed civil servant” by his side who looked utterly unreliable.
Chi Xianyu: ...Is your organization really all right? Maybe I should just save myself?
He had only gotten halfway through his escape when a man radiating an aura of absolute authority came dropping out of the sky. He wore a crisp uniform and was devastatingly handsome, yet carried himself like he couldn’t take anything seriously.
Yuan Zhan, the country’s only unrestricted S-rank offensive ability user.
Yuan Zhan punched the kidnappers, kicked the ability monsters, mocked the nasty blond, and KO’d the trash-talkers. Then, with movements that seemed a little stiff, he scooped Chi Xianyu up in one arm, raised an eyebrow, and spoke with inexplicable affection:
“Darling, am I really so unworthy of your trust? Hmm?”
If you ignored the fact that he’d just torn apart several ability monsters with his bare hands, perhaps his words might have been a little more convincing.
In the eerie silence, Chi Xianyu’s body tensed. His dark eyes fixed intently on the man. After a long moment, a harmless, innocent smile finally appeared on his pale, cool face.
Chi Xianyu: “Of course I trust you.”
Thank heavens. I wouldn’t trust him if he were a ghost, okay?
After everything that happened, Chi Xianyu followed him back to the Huaihai City Anomaly Monitoring and Management Bureau.
Then he was informed that he had developed an ability and was no longer human. For special reasons, he had become a high-risk subject under the bureau’s supervision, and his supervisor was their boss.
Chi Xianyu: “...Sorry, who exactly is your boss?”
Yuan Zhan draped an arm over his shoulders and answered confidently, “Me.”
Chi Xianyu: “…”
After thinking it over, Chi Xianyu finally decided to join the bureau, with Yuan Zhan coaxing and persuading him all the while. Of course, he was only doing it to keep himself alive. It definitely wasn’t because joining got him a secure government job.
P.S. It’s the kind of government job that pays 100,000 a month, with meals and housing covered, plus full social insurance and housing fund benefits.
.
In just a few short months, almost every officially registered ability user had heard that Chi Xianyu was famous for three things.
First, his highly deceptive face. Second, his strange ability that couldn’t be detected. Third, the bizarrely intimate way the high-level ability entity [Omniscience and Omnipotence] treated him.
Countless people came hoping to steal him away, only to beat a hasty retreat.
There was one reason: at his side was an ability-user nepo baby, the Huaihai City Anomaly Monitoring Bureau’s young master, who had been out of control since childhood, and Yuan Zhan, still stubbornly seeking the other half of his relationship status.

2. A self-indulgent passion project, written with complete creative freedom.
3. The author generally writes whatever they dream up (seriously).

A wooden, devoted, double-standard-holding top who becomes brooding, cruel, and sinister later VS a vindictive, sweet-talking, ruthless, rebellious beauty on the bottom
From the twenty-first century to an unknown age of chaos, from fugitive to bandit strategist, from a traitorous minister reviled by everyone to the most powerful chancellor in the land
Scholars curse him for knowing nothing of the chaos of the times or the order of rank, and for calling himself a powerful minister without knowing whose name the realm bears. The remnants of the former dynasty pray for his swift demise, while the current emperor seals his throat with a sword and has him dismembered by five horses.
Everyone says that the emperor isn’t just a figurehead. How could the realm possibly bear the surname Yun?
Yet Chi Xiuyun, reviled by all, only smiles, his eyes curving as his cool, pale fingertips toy idly with the imperial seal. He looks at the current emperor with a bright smile and asks, “Your Majesty, tell me: whose surname does this realm bear?”
Xiao Wuli lowers his eyes and, face cold, adds another layer of clothing to Chi Xiuyun. Not a trace of reluctance shows on his face. “Yun.”
Chi Xiuyun asks, “Your Majesty once wanted me to enter the palace, but I refused. Later, I did enter. Do you still remember what I asked for?”
Xiao Wuli: “The realm as your gift, in return for your entering the palace.”
Chi Xiuyun claps in delight, lifts his wine cup, and smiles with narrowed eyes. “Then, please, drink this poison to quench your thirst.”
Xiao Wuli drinks the poisoned wine from his hand, his gaze deep and his voice hoarse. “...Then I shall drink the poison.”
.
P.S. The bottom has an addiction and likes biting things. In short, this is a dogblood romance disguised as a story of political intrigue: after abandoning the top, he crosses mountains and rivers for thirty thousand li to “bite” him back (and beg to be taken in again).
P.P.S. In short, it’s a dogblood romance where the love runs too deep and the resentment too shallow: three parts blame, six parts grievance, and the remaining ninety parts are all about how you’re guilty of every passion, and no one is without blame.
