I'm away on a business trip, so there may be sporadic updates toward the end of the month. I'm taking a short break, dear readers. I'm so sorry.
Sharp-tongued but soft-hearted heroine x cold-faced, loyal-dog hero
The word "Zhen" here doesn't mean a chastity arch. It means being humble and self-disciplined, possessing inner virtue, and remaining true to one's original principles.
Wu Zizhen's family is suddenly ruined when she is young. Rescued by her master, she studies medicine for ten years and becomes a skilled physician. After changing her name and returning to the capital, she accidentally gets caught up in a missing-person case.
On a snowy day, she meets Meng Chongxu again in the interrogation room. When they were children, they almost became engaged.
He is a promising junior official in the Ministry of Justice, while she is a village doctor with excellent medical skills.
Once well matched in family status, now they are worlds apart.
Snow falls thickly outside, while the room is brightly lit. Meng Chongxu recognizes her at a glance, but he doesn't dare acknowledge her.
Dozens of members of the Wu family died ten years ago. Their deaths were reported to the emperor and are known throughout the court. How could a daughter of the Wu family still be alive and standing here ten years later?
His heart races, and he can't tell whether he's happy or afraid. He wants to acknowledge her, but doesn't dare. He can only test her in every way and secretly investigate the old case.
Later, she becomes an imperial physician, and he is promoted as well. She has returned to bring the case from ten years ago back to light. He could easily stay out of it, but willingly gets involved, joining her in the investigation.
Meng Chongxu plans to wait until the truth comes out and her name is cleared, then marry her with all due ceremony.
Who knew more than one rival would appear along the way? One claims she saved his life and he wants to repay her by giving himself to her; another is a perfect match for her, and they get along wonderfully.
His teeth are practically grinding to dust with anger. He was the one who almost got engaged to her when they were children!
Meng Chongxu hands her a slip of paper. Tao Zhen opens it and sees a birth date and time written on it. Meng Chongxu turns his face aside, blushing as he mutters, "I remember someone once looked at our horoscopes when we were children. They said... they said we were destined for each other!"
One-on-one, happy ending

Reader's Guide:
1. An entirely fictional setting. I haven't researched every historical detail. The main focus is moving the plot forward.
2. All medical details are fictional nonsense and shouldn't be used as a reference.
To be continued. I'll add more if needed.
Theme: Stay true to your original principles
