After the Villainous Omega Lost His Sight

After suddenly going blind, Ming Pei is told by the System that he is the vicious, money-grubbing, manipulative omega in a novel. He has to win over the male lead, then cruelly dump him.

The good news: They used to date. He's a doting, fatherly type and a top-tier Alpha.

The bad news: He already dumped him, after putting him through both physical and emotional abuse.

Now Duan Fenghuai holds a position of power. Forget winning him over, he probably wouldn't even spare Ming Pei a glance.

He needs to find a way to get close to Duan Fenghuai, then dump him one more time.

Ming Pei has no choice but to seek out his former best friend, Duan Fenghuai's younger brother, Duan Qin. In his arms, Ming Pei cries until his face is streaked with tears, tells him how much he's suffered over the years, then says in a fragile, sweet voice that he's blind now and so scared, and longs for an Alpha he can rely on completely...

They haven't seen each other in years, and at first his friend seems a little distant. But the hand wiping away his tears is unsteady. Ming Pei quickly puts on a pitiful act and says, “Brother Duan Qin, I only have you now.”

The hand wiping his tears suddenly stiffens. The other man says, his meaning unclear, “...Duan Qin?”

Ming Pei looks up at him with his beautiful, sightless eyes, his voice choked with tears.

“I want to make Duan Fenghuai fall for me again. Can you help me?”

Duan Fenghuai has never forgotten the day Ming Pei abandoned him, saying he was poor and down on his luck, and that as an Alpha he had made such a mess of his life that he couldn't give Ming Pei a good one.

After the breakup, he went mad, clawing his way up by any means necessary until he became a powerful figure in the business world. When he saw blind Ming Pei come crawling back to curry favor, he smiled coldly and mockingly, then poured an entire glass of red wine over him.

He never expected Ming Pei to shamelessly show up at his door that very night. He didn't say a word to him, just watched him cry so pitifully.

But seeing Ming Pei covered in red wine stains, and the injuries he'd suffered on his way there, softened Duan Fenghuai's heart. Then, in the very next moment, he heard Ming Pei call him “Duan Qin.”

Duan Fenghuai smiled.

So, to seduce me, you came to seduce my younger brother?

For playing with people's feelings like this, you'll pay the full price this time.

With his friend's help, Ming Pei thinks things are going more smoothly than he'd expected. But he starts to realize something is off...

When his blindness triggers an episode of pheromone dysregulation, Duan Fenghuai is there, but instead of soothing him, he releases his Alpha pheromones from on high, making Ming Pei's heat even worse.

When Ming Pei finally makes it home, barely able to move, his friend tenderly lifts him up and licks and kisses his gland again and again, calming his dysregulated pheromones. His touch is loving and gentle, but his words are hard to read:

“Do you really like Duan Fenghuai that much?

“Then why are you willing to let me comfort you beneath me now...”

Sometimes Duan Fenghuai takes advantage of Ming Pei's pheromone dysregulation and deliberately says:

“What kind of filthy Alpha pheromones have you got all over you?”

“It smells like someone has completely taken your gland.”

When Ming Pei's body goes rigid, he laughs scornfully and says:

“I was only joking.

“Hmm? Why are you suddenly so nervous?”

Every day, Ming Pei teeters on the brink of disaster in a battlefield of romantic rivals. After finally completing his mission to dump Duan Fenghuai, he slips away to hide at his friend's house... only to see Duan Fenghuai there when his vision begins to return.

Ming Pei's breath catches. When he tries to call for help, his voice is almost gone:

“Brother Duan Qin...?”

Then he sees Duan Fenghuai tidying up the clothes scattered around his room. The man gently answers, “Mm.”

He sets down what he is holding, comes over, bends down, and softly kisses Ming Pei on the forehead.

“Don't worry. I won't let Duan Fenghuai find out that I marked you.”

Ming Pei: ...

A delicate, silly little softie who thinks he's full of clever schemes, paired with a top who seems cold and composed but is actually always falling apart, a dark, lustful male ghost.

Reading Guide

1. The bottom thinks he's pursuing his ex in a hellishly difficult redemption arc, but in reality the other man is madly in love with him. A melodramatic, sweet romance. Neither character is perfect. The author only promises that they're both messed up :D Everything serves the plot, so if that's not your thing, please don't wander in, dear readers [gksk].

2. The bottom has been using his friend from beginning to end: anxiously using him, guiltily using him, bossily using him [though the person he's ordering around is always the top]. Both characters are the author's babies. I hope you'll enjoy their love story as they share their various mental illnesses (not really).

3. Duan Qin is the top's younger brother, four years younger. They're not twins; they just have the same parents. Their voices and looks are about 70 to 80 percent alike. The bottom is five years younger than the top. [Don't worry about the voices being different. Even our aloof CEO can put on a sweet voice if he wants.]

4. The top isn't a fatherly type. After a few years, that fatherly type has mutated into a male ghost.
