"Gentle, proud princess x sharp-tongued, secretly devoted bodyguard"
Shen Chuling, Princess Chaoyu, fell in love at first sight with the man who had saved her life.
The young man was so handsome he seemed almost otherworldly, with a vermilion mark between his brows and foxlike violet eyes.
The princess wanted him, the princess got him, and the princess easily had him brought back to the palace.
Only when she saw his cold expression there did she remember that he was an assassin, not the bodyguard she wanted.
The little princess, bathing in milk, furrowed her brows. "If you can't be my bodyguard, there's only one other role for you."
"My personal consort."
The blindfolded young man scattered petals into her bath, silent in humiliation.

To recover his memories, Jiang Heyan played dumb and went back to the palace with Shen Chuling.
He had thought he would get some easy, menial job. Instead, the princess waved a hand and appointed him as her bodyguard, one who had to stay by her side around the clock.
The pampered princess was picky about everything and even brazenly demanded that he give himself to her.
Jiang Heyan was fed up, but there was nothing he could do.
Until one day, Shen Chuling held up a portrait of her prospective consort and ordered him to leave the palace, her face and eyes shy with anticipation of marriage.
Jiang Heyan suddenly regretted how ungrateful he'd been in the past.
It was his good fortune to serve the princess.
Extra Scene 1:
Shen Chuling thought her bodyguard was perfect in every way except that he never said anything nice. Every word was barbed, and whenever his lips moved, she worried he'd poison her.
One day, the little princess finally asked the question on her mind. "A Ye, are you so sharp-tongued because you hate me so much?"
"But you clearly do whatever I say..."
Before she could finish, a piece of her favorite pastry from the morning market was stuffed into her mouth.
The bodyguard, who'd risen before dawn to go to the market, turned his head away.
His earlobes were so red they were almost translucent.
Extra Scene 2:
In the winter of the twenty-fourth year of Yongjia, the new emperor of Beixuan came to court.
After years as enemy states, the two nations had become allies. The intention to arrange a political marriage went without saying.
But that night, the palace halls glowed with lamplight. The young emperor opened his formal robes, revealing his pale skin, with gold beads and jade chains draped over his body.
He knelt before Princess Chaoyu, both hands offering the imperial seal, and bowed reverently. "I have come for the princess."
"I beg to become the princess's lover."
Reader's Guide:
1. One-on-one pairing, both leads are virgins. The prospective consort mentioned in the blurb is a misunderstanding. The male lead's social roles change from assassin to bodyguard to ruler of a neighboring country. The bodyguard arc is much longer than the other two.
2. Pure sweetness, no angst, bickering couple. The male lead is sharp-tongued, but only teases the female lead for being delicate. He never disrespects her or says anything that makes her uncomfortable, and he always does what she says.
3. The female lead is the most doted-on little princess, and she's indeed a little spoiled and unreasonable (but only a little; she's a very good girl). The "kidnapping" mentioned in the blurb will be explained in the story. Both parties are willing, so please don't judge the characters' morals.
