Of all the characters in supernatural anime, my two favorites are Takashi from Natsume's Book of Friends and Shinobu Sensui from Yu Yu Hakusho.
Both of them saw monsters from a young age, which twisted their minds. One ended up on a healing path, while the other went down a self-destructive road.
