Unreliable narration + ensemble cast + mystery
On the day Shi Yi returns to China, she gets a phone call.
She unexpectedly receives news of a high school friend who disappeared years ago.
Back in high school, she and her friend Wei Ran used to tell each other everything. Then one day, Wei Ran mysteriously vanished.
A month ago, during an expansion of the school campus, a woman's body was discovered in a small grove on the grounds. Beside it was a locked diary addressed to her.
Shi Yi opens to the first page. It reads:
"I am the murderer. I once killed someone."

1. A mystery novel with unreliable narration.
2. An all-female ensemble, primarily about friendship between women. The protagonist isn't morally perfect. Readers with a strict moral outlook, please stay away.
3. The novel has two points of view. Volume One is told in first person by the protagonist; Volume Two is in third person.
Theme: Never give up hope.
