The Widower (Matriarchy)

Dark, possessive heroine VS honest, straightforward hero!

Fang Zhiyue is clumsy by nature and an honest man.

After being sold into the Si family, his wife soon passed away. Even so, he devoted himself to caring for his elderly father-in-law and the daughter she had left behind.

Later, his father-in-law passed away too, leaving only Zhiyue and his stepdaughter, Si Yao, at home. He devoted himself to finding her a husband and hoped to see her have a daughter.

He never imagined that his stepdaughter would set her sights on him.

Si Yao was cold by nature and felt little attachment to her family. Even when her birth mother died and her grandfather passed away from illness, she could not shed a single tear.

She also had a flaw: an overwhelming desire to control everything she cared about.

She knew there was something wrong with her.

Fortunately, there were very few things in this world she cared about, and she had always been good at putting on an act, so no one noticed.

After her mother died and her grandfather was gone, only she and her little father, Fang Zhiyue, remained at home.

She gave him the chance to leave, but he stubbornly insisted on staying. He even said ridiculous things, promising to take good care of her in place of her mother and grandfather, and to watch her marry and have a daughter.

Si Yao scoffed and paid him no mind.

If he would not leave, then he could stay. The Si family could spare him a meal.

At first, she did not care.

But later, he began haunting her dreams night after night, as if she had become bewitched.

Si Yao's usually well-contained desire for control burst out of its confines.

She thought darkly, if that's how it is, then she would have him.
