Lu Ke was lucky enough to get the chance to spend a year in Berlin as an exchange student.
The city was drowsy and unpredictable. It took her a long time to find the place she wanted, but the old house had an odd layout, and she would have to share the kitchen and laundry room with the neighbor downstairs.
On her first day after moving in, Lu Ke was secretly pleased. Her neighbor looked Asian, and might even be Chinese, so they should have no trouble communicating.
On the second day, Lu Ke realized her neighbor didn't talk much, but was quite helpful.
The third day, the fourth day, the fifth day...
Her neighbor often left early and came home late, and never cooked at home.
Lu Ke felt she'd hit the jackpot. She was a neat freak about the kitchen and hated sharing it with other people.
The longer it went on, the more she liked her neighbor.
Good physique, not picky about food, easy to take care of.
Until one day, Lu Ke saw a windbreaker tossed in the laundry hamper beside the washing machine. Something darker stained its dark fabric.
Curious, she reached out a finger, only to hear a gentle voice.
Duan Zhiyan stood behind her. She had no idea how long he'd been there. Smiling, he asked, "Are you looking for something?"
Lu Ke's hand trembled, and she lowered her head.
Red.
Oh no. She seemed to have gotten involved with a psychopath.
