Taboo romance / pseudo-incest / younger man / forced love / mutual descent into madness
In the 1970s, Lin Wanzheng immigrated to West Germany, married Weissenbach, and gave birth to a son named Lin En. The marriage soon fell apart, and mother and son were left with nothing. They moved into a cramped, damp rental apartment. Lin Wanzheng worked in a tailor shop for meager wages, barely making ends meet.
When Lin En was eight, Lin Wanzheng met Mr. Hohenstein, a handsome man who spent money lavishly. Before long, Lin Wanzheng moved with her son into the Hohenstein estate.
Mr. Hohenstein's first wife had recently died. He also had a son, Theodor, who was the same age as Lin En, but a few months younger.
Theodor was filled with loathing toward the mother and son who had moved in. He constantly tormented Lin En, just so he could make him feel the same pain and anguish he felt himself.
For his mother's relationship with Mr. Hohenstein, Lin En kept swallowing his anger and wearing a mask of friendliness. But when he was fourteen, he could no longer endure Theodor's increasingly cruel teasing and finally fought back. Unexpectedly, from that moment on, Theodor became even more obsessed with him. Theodor wanted only to drag Lin En, step by step, into the abyss and make him his own.
