The serious synopsis:
God created the game, and God bestowed sin and slaughter. The “Journey of Escape” begins. After Jing Yi is struck by the disappearance of his lover and the deaths of his friends and family, he enters the game, willing to pay any price to find the truth he has forgotten and make up for all that was lost.
But things go horribly wrong from the start. He has the account of the veteran player ranked first on the points leaderboard, yet remembers nothing about it and must start a beginner game under a top player's account. He faces a mysterious System, ill-intentioned players of his own kind, dungeon bosses bound by fate, and an emissary of God with the face of his beloved.
He uses human nature to draw himself into the game, loves and fights with the divine emissary, and pits his wits against the church. He reunites with his lover and friends, lost in the game, only to lose them again. Struggling through the pain, he presses onward through blood and tears, never backing down. As he grows stronger, he draws ever closer to the truth.
It all began with the ambition and greed of a group of people. Behind it lies the secret of this world, connected to a world that seems to be a game. A group of people try to defeat God. They train monsters to enter the game, hoping to open up a fourth world. If they get lost, the lucky ones survive to the end as NPCs, while the unlucky ones become dungeon bosses and are killed over and over by players.
