Prologue

Overnight, Zhengyang Manor was wiped out.

The towering blaze burned for three days and three nights.

More than a hundred people throughout the manor had been decapitated, their heads neatly placed not far from their bodies.

The killer must have been a devoted believer in "equality for all," treating men and women, young and old alike. They hadn't even spared the dogs raised by the servants.

Only the eldest daughter, Lin Shuyue, survived.

She stood amid the flames, wearing a loose robe soaked through with the blood of her family.

More and more people arrived after hearing the news, and the commotion swallowed her up.

The blood had yet to dry. It dripped from her hand, drop by drop, forming a small "pool" at her feet. The stench of blood and rust surrounded her.

She blinked lightly, engraving the killer's name into her heart...
