Gu Que is a cannon-fodder villain, so he sharpens his knives and goes after Long Aotian. Unfortunately, he discovers he can no longer kill him.
Luckily, Long Aotian wakes up with amnesia, and Gu Que discovers that dragon qi can improve one's spiritual roots. So Gu Que sneers at Long Aotian: "From now on, your name is Goudan. You're a heinous villain and my lowliest servant."
Long Aotian believes him and does as he's told, but gradually starts to notice that something is off.
His Qiankun pouch is piled high with divine artifacts and immortal treasures. Ancient Azure Dragon blood flows through his veins, and the golden light of merit shining behind him outshines the sun.
Meanwhile, his master, Gu Que, has no magical treasures or artifacts. His own people bully and ostracize him, and when he's injured, he can only turn into a little fox and lick his wounds in a corner.
As Long Aotian grows more and more suspicious, Gu Que has no choice but to keep making things up. He goes from calling him a servant to a good brother, then from a good brother to a lover. At last, Long Aotian believes him.
Before Gu Que gets the chance to openly siphon dragon qi, Long Aotian has already put an arm around his waist and is nuzzling his neck. "If that's the case, let's do what lovers do."
Gu Que thinks something is a little off, but can't put his finger on what. Still, he doesn't think he's losing out.
Later, the amnesiac Dragon King returns to the Dragon Palace with a fox spirit. The fox is said to be so adored that the Dragon King plucks stars and moons for him every day. Everyone thinks the fox spirit will be in for it once the Dragon King regains his memories, and that he'll surely be cast aside. But only the Dragon King's personal attendant knows that the Dragon King seems to have remembered everything long ago.
Bonus scene:
Gu Que often turns into a little fox and curls up on Xie Xingyun to sleep. One day, the Dragon King wakes up unexpectedly, and Gu Que doesn't have time to escape before he's caught and pulled into his arms.
Gu Que glares: What are you doing? Let go of me! You're my servant. What's wrong with me lying on you for a while?
The Dragon King looks conflicted, then coils his tail around the little fox and tucks him beneath his belly, closing his eyes to go back to sleep.
And Gu Que lies there contentedly, resolving to keep siphoning off the dragon qi and make sure the Dragon King doesn't regain his cultivation anytime soon.
