But after Ming Zhao disappeared before his eyes for the third time, he no longer wanted to let her go. He revealed his true identity, yet still took care not to show his feelings.

She wants revenge. She wants to kill the emperor and uphold justice for all under heaven. He is willing to serve as the blade in her hand, plotting tirelessly to help her seize the throne.

Ming Zhao thought her plan to fake her death and escape to the border was flawless. She never expected the emperor's close aide, a man who had never once left the palace, to suddenly appear at a desert pass and catch her completely off guard.

"Zhaozhao, I won't let you disappear again." That night, Lin Jinzhiyi traced the features of the woman he had missed for so long, his eyes concealing both desperation and madness.

"Zhaozhao, can you really bear to kill me?" The person pinned beneath her spoke teasingly, his eyes and brows full of tender affection.

"Zhaozhao, kill me." Before the armies clashed, he gently touched Ming Zhao's face and drove the tip of the sword several inches deeper into himself.
