[Adorable Cui Chi, the Bottom x Handsome Yu Shan, the Top]
After being brought back into his wealthy family, Cui Chi spent three diligent years coasting through life, finally convincing his biological parents and his fake-young-master older brother that he posed no threat to the inheritance.
The family fortune's succession battle came to an end. With his parents' unconditional doting and financial support, he was able to enjoy a comfortable retirement years ahead of schedule.
Then his clueless brother brought home a boyfriend, and that peace was shattered.
His parents flew into a rage, devastated that the heir they'd raised for twenty years was gay. The family atmosphere grew tense, and the balance of the inheritance began to shift.
His fake-young-master brother started giving him strange looks. Cui Chi could only swear again and again that he would never fight his brother for anything, begging him to spare a useless guy who yearned for freedom.
Only then did his brother nod in satisfaction and turn to leave.
Cui Chi breathed a sigh of relief, then couldn't help glancing at the young man sitting at the desk.
The man had sharp brows and bright eyes. When he noticed Cui Chi looking, he nodded at him. Cui Chi's ears warmed, and he shut the door as he left.
It was true that he didn't care about the family fortune. But he did want his brother's man.
Cui Chi didn't dare make a move on his brother-in-law. He could only watch him quietly and swear to protect his brother-in-law's happiness with his life.
And so...
When his brother-in-law smashed his father's beloved flower garden, Cui Chi stayed up all night restoring it. When his brother-in-law wanted to give his mother a hideously ugly portrait, Cui Chi took the original and hid in the attic to repaint it in a thick, textured style. When his brother-in-law went fishing by the fountain, Cui Chi huffed and puffed to buy red carp, then snuck out in the middle of the night to put them in the pond so his brother-in-law could fish to his heart's content.
That very night, after the carp were in the pond, his brother-in-law kicked open his bedroom door, shoved him hard against the desk, and pressed himself against him.
His brother-in-law said, "I like you. I know you like me, too."
Cui Chi shook his head frantically. "No, no, no, no, we can't! This is forbidden love. It could never work!"
His brother-in-law said, "Fine, then forget it."
Cui Chi abruptly stopped struggling.
His brother-in-law: "..."
Cui Chi: "..."
His brother-in-law: "Let's date."
Cui Chi: "Sure."

"Pretend to be my boyfriend and come home to cause trouble. Three thousand a day, double pay if the job's done."
Yu Shan was a man who did what he was paid for. He dutifully played the loving gay boyfriend, forcing himself not to gag as he and his employer fed each other. When no one was home, he kicked over the old master's treasured stone garden, pretended to be an idiot while fishing in the backyard fountain, and painted the lady of the house a hideously ugly portrait.
His plan to play dumb went off without a hitch, and he was in high spirits. Sometimes he wandered around the villa; sometimes he teased his employer's shy, quiet younger brother.
He'd thought his relationship with the family would end there. Then one day after class, he ran straight into the pampered young master on the drab university campus.
His shirt was rumpled, flapping in the wind.
The young master's pale cheek was brushed with a faint red. Facing into the wind, he looked down at the man he had just kicked into the artificial river, who was now struggling desperately.
His face was impassive, his gaze unmoved.
A crack had appeared in his usually gentle, refined air, revealing something rotten and cold beneath.
Yu Shan watched the whole thing with his chin in his hand, then smiled.
Wow.
P.S.:
1. One-on-one romance, happy ending, both leads have only been with each other.
2. A light, everyday story with no villains and no family infighting.
