1. This is a choose-your-favorite love interest story, and the leads aren't mutually chaste. The author is a sucker for redemption arcs. The female insect has many military achievements and has climbed high in the ranks, but she was once the star of black-market videos and was sabotaged by her brothers at home. The male insect was first crushed by insectoid society and spent a while living wildly in his early days. Later, he decided he shouldn't have to rot along with everyone else and didn't want to become trash, so he started behaving himself.
2. The male and female insects aren't stereotypical, and there is a male-male relationship. This isn't an insectoid society in the traditional sense. Not recommended for readers with germophobia, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, or extreme preferences (?). The background is that the insect queen abandoned her people, the female insects overthrew male rule, and then the males took power back.
