[Next up: The Movie Star, But He Only Films Romantic Dramas. Click to see a gorgeous movie star whip the melodramatic romance market into shape!] I, Jian Yun, was an ordinary top student. I made it from the preliminary round to the finals of a math competition, was chosen for the national team, and earned admission through a recommendation. Just as I was agonizing over whether to go to Q University or B University, my System, which had been loading for ten years without ever finishing, finally appeared. [Ding! The Superstar System has finished loading.] [Host, please choose "take the arts entrance exam" between Q University and B University.] Me: ??? You've got to be kidding. I'm a top student, and you want me to take an arts entrance exam? And what is the Superstar System, anyway? I've already become a top student, and now you're telling me you're the Superstar System??? Thank you so much! But then I saw all the rewards lined up in the System's shop. I gave in. · Principal: "Jian Yun, have you made up your mind? Are you going to Q University or B University?" Jian Yun stared at the pop-up shop page, which looked like a tacky little ad, and stayed silent for a long while. At last, he said: "Maybe... I should take the arts entrance exam." The entire office fell silent. Everyone thought Jian Yun had gone crazy. They urged him to think it over and stop gambling with his future. But no one knew what he had seen in the System's shop. Later, the entertainment industry gained an unusual "monster." He was clearly a top student, yet insisted on joining an idol competition. Most astonishingly, he actually debuted in the center position. Some people reach their peak as soon as they debut, while others stay at the top. What was even more impressive than Jian Yun's professional ability was the variety of opportunities he had received since debuting. Everyone from industry insiders to ordinary viewers wondered how powerful Jian Yun's backer must be. That question became the entertainment industry's latest unsolved mystery. Later still, Dongxia took off like a rocket. No one knew that the first name to appear in the classified files on Dongxia's rise was his. * The male lead didn't take the college entrance exam because he was admitted through a recommendation!!! The Movie Star, But He Only Films Romantic Dramas I, Jian Xun, am one of the entertainment industry's great beauties. I spent my entire career trying to prove that "I'm not just handsome, I can really act, too." For the sake of awards, I made a bunch of artsy films that no one could understand and tried my hardest to make myself look ugly. After finally winning every major Best Actor award, I was moved to tears. Living like that, making myself ugly, was no way to live. The morning after I won my awards, I discovered that I had been reborn. I was back in the year I first entered the entertainment industry. Well, that was a fine return to square one. At least I still had my face. With my face, I can conquer the world! This time, I was going to start over and never sacrifice my looks for awards again. So I decided to film romantic dramas only! - And so, the entertainment industry gained a monster who "gets away with everything on the strength of his looks." Romantic dramas? Aren't those easy? Just show off, look handsome, and phone it in. Why is someone taking romantic dramas so seriously??? The worst part was, he was not only handsome, but ridiculously hardworking! If you can act that well, why are you making romantic dramas? Why not go work your way up in the film industry? That's cheating! The actors in modern romances, historical romances, and fantasy romances all shouted, "Please go make someone else suffer!" Seeing how hard the other actors worked to memorize their lines, Jian Xun couldn't help sighing: It's not easy to make it in romantic dramas, either... Maybe... He slowly turned his gaze toward popcorn movies. A meaningful smile appeared on his face. Film industry actors: "Stay away from us!" · I'm Still Trying to Go Bankrupt Today [Entertainment Industry] "So you're saying I won't die unless I spend all the money in my account?" Jian Ning frowned after trying all sorts of things and confirming that the System was right. But then he thought about it. Earning money was hard, but could spending it really be that difficult? [Host, you must use reasonable and legal methods. Deliberately manipulating the stock market is forbidden, and you are not allowed to enter the watch industry.] With the System blocking off those options, Jian Ning fell into thought. But he soon came up with a solution: The entertainment industry. Aside from the forbidden paths, the entertainment industry was also a great place to spend money. Money burned away like paper offerings, and returns on investment depended on metaphysics. All he had to do was sign lots of washed-up artists with no potential, invest in ridiculously expensive film and TV projects that no one would watch, and spend a fortune buying obscure rights to adapt... He'd have his company run artist training programs, send every single artist to class, and provide them with top-tier instructors and every imaginable perk! In short, he would spend money however he could. At that rate, it would be impossible not to lose money. And he would achieve his goal. Only, why had no one told him things could work in reverse? Washed-up artists with no potential could make a comeback and reach new career heights? Expensive film and TV projects could be praised as "the industry's last bastion of integrity, made with meticulous care"? Even adaptations of obscure properties he'd bought with a pile of money won fans' praise and kept winning awards thanks to their enthusiastic word-of-mouth? His company even became known as a "miracle company"... Jian Ning fell silent. So when was he finally going to go bankrupt?! Theme: Life has no standard answer. Only after breaking through your constraints can you find your true self.
