Humanity's little hard-luck case, Ye Manshan, had just achieved her modest goal of owning both a home and a car when, bam, she suddenly dropped dead.
After fighting against fate and winning a chance at a new life, she demanded three points in compensation:
First, she wanted to live in an unbeatable ocean-view home.
Second, she wanted to be liked and loved by lots of people.
Third, she wanted a carefree life with plenty to eat and wear, where she could lie flat.
With these lovely hopes in her heart, Ye Manshan happily hurried off to be reborn.
But when she opened her eyes again, she had become a sea otter pup, just four months old, crying for food, alone and helpless.
"???" Ye Manshan was dumbfounded.
She put all those demands and hopes aside for now. The most urgent question was, how was she going to survive from here on out?!
-
Stai had no idea why she had become entangled with a sea otter pup. She couldn't chase the little thing away or shake her off.
The usually cold-hearted and unsentimental Stai regretted it again and again:
If only she hadn't lingered near the kelp that day;
If only the pup's cries hadn't reminded her of her own childhood;
If only she hadn't softened and rescued her, then worked like a beast of burden day after day to raise her...
But regret was useless.
Before Stai could come up with a suitable way to get rid of the sea otter pup, someone stole her away first.
The usually composed Stai suddenly went into a rage.
Once she found the otter thief, she'd tear her to pieces!
-
The twin sisters ran into each other by chance and immediately started fighting without a word.
Stai yanked on Sijia's ear and demanded coldly, "Why did you steal my otter?"
Sijia sneered in disdain and swiftly swiped back. "What proves she's yours?"
"The one I raised is mine."
"The one you raised is yours..."
Sijia froze for a moment, then bared her teeth fiercely. "Then what about me?!"
The scene froze in an eerie standoff.
A moment later, Ye Manshan suddenly sprang into action.
"You shameless otters, pulling a body-double romance on me?!"
She charged over and gave Stai a hard headbutt, then spun around and swiftly whacked Sijia twice.
"Bastard! Freak! Get lost, you lunatics!"
After venting her anger, Ye Manshan left with red-rimmed eyes.
Watching her furious retreat, Stai shot Sijia a sidelong glance and asked in a quiet, gloomy voice, "Why did she insult you without even giving a reason?"
Sijia only sneered, her heart filled with the satisfaction of having gotten what she wanted.
"Because I lived with her, and from beginning to end, she never realized I wasn't you."
Reader advisory:
1. This is not a body-double romance. Stai and Sijia share pure sisterly affection, and later they'll even claw at each other over Ye Manshan.
2. The setting is fictional, with some author-created details added to serve the plot. Enjoy it lightly, and please don't overanalyze.
3. The protagonists are animals through and through. There is no transformation into humans. The blurb has been revised, but the story itself hasn't changed.
