A fanfic about the dogs at Yu Xi Xiao Ding's Yu Xi Dog Farm. I've been completely obsessed with the dogs there these past few years. I even thought that in my next life, I'd like to experience being one of the happy little dogs at Yu Xi Dog Farm. I couldn't resist starting a story about them. Black Leopard, here I come! (Leaving this blurb here first in case I forget later.)
The actual story: Charles, a Wire Fox Terrier who came from England to China and was passed from owner to owner before ending up at Yu Xi Dog Farm, cares a great deal about his quality of life. When he finds himself standing on the dusty, pockmarked ground in the farm's backyard, he's shocked and bewildered. How can a place like this exist? It's old and run-down, and yet this tiny space has a full eleven dog cages. Inside each one, dogs of all sorts bark nonstop at him. Two residents of the low-rise kennels are even chained up. They don't look like the sort you want to mess with. Has his owner sent him to prison?
Luckily, the warden understands his habits fairly well and has specially built him a nest in a tree. He loves lying on a branch and gazing into the distance. He vaguely remembers his owner saying he was going on a long trip, so once he returns, he'll take Charles back. For now, Charles will deign to stay in this crude abode for a little while.
Lao Fei: "Who's this? Another one who's going to eat in the backyard. Damn, now my mealtime's going to get pushed back again. His toys look nice. Once Xiao Ding lets me loose, I'll go grab one."
Sheng Sheng: "This newcomer has thick fur and not much meat on his bones. He looks like a weakling. This prince is going to recruit him as a minion."
Lao Pi: "Xiao Ding, let's bounce! Bounce... Huh, another new guy. Hurry up and get lost. Don't keep me from sunbathing."
Yu Mi: "I've got the latest scoop on the new dog at the farm! You're a boy, right? What's your name? What kind of dog are you? Are you staying for good or just visiting?"
Dun Dun: "A new hero, huh? Heh, but you'll be another loser. Come on, let's fight. This is fun!"
Er Leng: "That idiot Xiao Ding has taken in another stupid dog."
Shi Er: "What a scrub. You can tell at a glance he can't fight."
Black Leopard: "Kid, I'll be keeping an eye on you. If you dare show Xiao Ding even the slightest disrespect, I'll beat you until you're crawling on the ground."
Hei Ci: "New guy! Yay, yay, yay!"
Xiao Hu: "What's going on? Let me take a look."
Ba Jie: "Xiao Ding's here! Oh, so it's not mealtime." (Disappointed.)
Enzo: Whistles.
Hei Niu: "A new punching bag. I'll go check him out with my son in a bit."
Xiao Ka (lost in thought): "First, watch out for Er Leng. Then go back and insult Lao Pi like this and that. Then come back and insult Enzo like this and that. Yes, that's it. No, wait, I have to watch out for Enzo the whole time before they lock us in the cages."
Da Mao: "Woof woof **woof woof**"
Li Zhi: "Let me out, let me out! I want to catch birds."
Xiao Ding: "Brothers, I've told you before: every dog at Yu Xi Dog Farm is one of a kind! We can't do without a show. This dog can climb trees and play golf! So elegant, truly elegant."
The Manager: "Get back to work, you idiot."
For fellow fans to chat, with everyday life at the dog farm, a lighthearted and heartwarming story, and a happy ending. The timeline is still before the move to the 25-acre Black Leopard Manor. Some parts take place while Dun Dun is still around. I'll keep writing from the current dog farm through to the new one.
