Forced love + star-crossed lovers + redemption
Jiang Ge, a princess of a fallen kingdom, had no hope of restoring it and could only hide her identity and struggle to survive.
Until an old man with an otherworldly air came to her door:
"A calamity will descend in fifteen years. Only a child born to you and Shen Duchun, the general of the present dynasty, can save the world."
Jiang Ge sneered. "What does that have to do with me?"
The old man said nothing. He simply waved his hand and laid down a peach blossom formation, trapping her inside with the decisive, ruthless general.
Forty-nine trials of love. Fail them, and their bodies and souls would be destroyed, never to enter the cycle of reincarnation again.
Enemies meeting again, their hatred burns all the hotter.
His father died because of her schemes.
Her kingdom was destroyed by the blade in his hand.
As they stood poised for battle, peach blossoms drifted through the air, and a cold command rang in their minds:
First trial: Hold hands.
Two hands that had wielded blades were forced together, palms pressed against each other.
Humiliating, and burning hot.
Second trial: Embrace.
The chest of the man who had killed her father had a heartbeat, too.
Once, twice, pounding so hard it made his eardrums ache.
Jiang Ge looked up and saw Shen Duchun's ears turning faintly red, his body stiff as a board, utterly motionless.
She narrowed her eyes. Her desire to restore her kingdom blazed anew.
She had the strategy, and he had the army.
If she had a child, she would have Heaven's mandate to raise a rebellion.
Third trial: Kiss.
The moment their lips touched, he heard something beginning to sprout in the cracks of his hatred.
As for her, she had already started planning what to do after the forty-ninth trial.
Forty-nine trials of love, and with every step, they fall deeper.
She treats it as a game of chess, calculating every move.
He treats it as a calamity, struggling every moment.
A sharp-witted princess of the previous dynasty x a sweet, innocent puppy of a general from the current dynasty
