The Female Side Character Refuses to Meet Her Family's Doom

When I was fourteen, I had a dream.

I dreamed that Crown Prince Brother and the courtesan from the pleasure house were the hero and heroine of a storybook.

He fell in love with her at first sight, and his love took root;

she gave up her title as princess for him, willingly becoming his captive.

And I was no more than an insignificant supporting character in the story.

In the end, my entire family was sentenced to death.

When I woke, I decided to end my engagement to the Crown Prince.

Before the assembled court officials, I swore to take on the great duty my father had borne:

to become the first female general in the history of the Dachang Dynasty.

Note:

1. The heroine's story is told in first person.

2. A short practice novella, around 90,000 characters in total.

3. A supporting character awakening to her role + foreknowledge of the plot + a remorseful hero trying to win back his wife...

Theme: My fate is mine to decide, not Heaven's.
