Xu Yin, an overworked doctor, unexpectedly died of sudden cardiac arrest. To his surprise, he was recruited for a second job as a paranormal entity in another world.

This other world was much like the one Xu Yin had come from, except it was overrun by paranormal entities, and the world's fate rested entirely on the Chosen Ones.

Looking at his new pitch-black body, Xu Yin gave a faint smile as he reached out with an evil hand toward the Chosen Ones, determined to complete his mission.

Reading guide:

1. This is an ensemble story, so it's normal for the protagonist to disappear as the story goes on. But there is exactly one protagonist. Without Xu Yin, there would be no book.

2. The male lead is a paranormal entity with no gender. Midway through, he takes on a female-presenting human secret identity and joins the otherworldly version of our motherland. The story is mainly about the country.

3. The male lead is villainous and consequentialist. His actions aren't exactly those of a good person. He kills and betrays people, and there is a language barrier between him and humans.

4. Ninety percent plot, ten percent romance. The male lead isn't human and has no feelings at all throughout the story. The romance appears one-sided midway through, when his secret identity first appears. The other party pursues the male lead, and the two are both comrades-in-arms and enemies.

5. The story was originally without a CP. Though, for some reason, it ultimately does have one, it still follows the original plan, so some parts are pretty unconventional. For example, the male lead sets up his partner to be robbed after a one-night stand.
