How can teenage love last? Will the sun defeat the rainstorm, or can innocence and passion only belong to adolescence?
Does the story of Hermione and Krum have to be summed up in just a few lines in a million-word novel? A girl and a boy fall in love across oceans and far-off lands.
A chance meeting carefully arranged in the library, an embrace at the ball, a restrained kiss on the hand at parting. Owl feathers tucked between stacks of letters. Will the winds of Durmstrang really never reach Hogwarts?
The man who grew up in the snow and wild northern winds, bold and rugged, had once seen the roses of the south. They bloomed too brilliantly. He knew they were a dream he could never take with him.
“Hermi-on.”
“Her-mione.”
“Her-mi-one.”
“Her-mione.”
“Hermione, promise you'll write to me. I love you.”
I'm writing this purely for love, just to give the couple I couldn't stop thinking about as a child the story I believe they deserve. Hermione is a remarkable woman, and she deserves a love that is fearless and unwavering. Even the snows stretching across the Nordic mountains will melt beneath the winds of Britain.
I'm a stickler for the original, but to give them a happy ending, I'll inevitably have to change parts of the plot. I may also use some scenes from the films. I'm open to all feedback, and will gladly accept criticism and suggestions. My writing may not be especially good, but I'll do my best to convey the Hermione and Krum I've felt and understood.
