Through an introduction from his childhood friend Kuroo, Kenma hired a new assistant named Kotoko.
He'd never been very good at getting along with girls, but he didn't mind being around her.
She never cared about his cold manner and was always enthusiastic when she spoke.
She also carried out every task he gave her with care.
Even when she was a little scatterbrained now and then, he didn't think it was a big deal.
And for some reason, he thought everything she did was cute.
The complicated hairstyles she braided every day were cute.
Her bright, sparkling eyes were cute.
Even the look on her face when it seemed like the sky was falling was adorable.
He couldn't refuse any of her requests...
After Kuroo-senpai introduced them, Kotoko became the assistant to Paw-Paw, a streamer.
When they first met, she thought the long-haired streamer seemed a little cold and hard to approach.
But once she started talking with him, Kotoko realized that his coldness was just a facade. In reality, he was a cute guy who made all sorts of little expressions.
He was also very kind.
When she fumbled around with the streaming equipment, Paw-Paw would silently adjust the camera.
When she was clumsy at games and dragged him down, Paw-Paw would just sigh softly and do the work of two people by himself.
He was even willing to help her become a content creator by taking her interests into account, giving her something she truly wanted to do.
But she'd noticed one big problem.
Whenever she looked up, she'd find Paw-Paw staring straight at her with his beautiful golden cat eyes.
He also often spoke to her in a light, yet bewitching tone.
She was really falling for him!!!
Bonus Scene:
Kenma knew that Kotoko used to have a crush on someone.
That person didn't know he existed, and was still convinced that Kotoko liked him.
Then one day, while walking Kotoko home, Kenma noticed someone staring fixedly at them.
As if sensing something, he looked up.
Sure enough, there was that person, brows tightly furrowed and looking displeased.
At the sight, he smiled, gathered Kotoko's hair for her under that person's gaze, then leaned close to her ear and spoke to her intimately.
Only after Kotoko went inside did he calmly and leisurely look up.
Reader's Note:
1. The female lead is not an original character, and canon couples will be broken up (important).
2. Starting in college, the female lead will choose a different path. She won't become a nurse, and she'll have a new career arc.
3. I don't dislike the original male lead, but he will go through some angst.
4. To serve the story, some events may differ slightly from the original.
5. The adult storyline doesn't have much of the original volleyball plot, but there will still be a few scenes of Kenma playing volleyball.
6. Apologies for any OOC characterization.
Here's an upcoming novel to check out:
As a plant-manipulating sorcerer, Fujiwara An considers herself pretty capable, even if she can't compare to those two peers who are on a whole other level.
She finds it rather awkward that her very first solo mission has left her trapped inside the domain of a semi-special grade curse.
With her cursed energy restricted by an unknown binding, she has no choice but to follow the clues provided within the spiritual domain, one step at a time.
Learn Sun Breathing?
Sure, she'll learn it.
Defeat the Demon King Muzan?
Sure, she'll go ahead and slash him more than 200 times.
Muzan has gone into hiding, and she can't find him?
She'll just hit the time-jump button and wait for him to show up a hundred years later.
She never expected that the moment she arrived, she'd end up saving a white-haired cult leader from a demon attack.
What? He wants to invite her to visit some Eternal Paradise Cult?
That's great. She doesn't have anywhere to stay anyway.
But...
Is this how your cult treats its guests?
One day, Fujiwara An lifted her blanket and saw a meticulously groomed Douma head beside her. She fell silent.
Don't repay kindness with treachery!
And how did this guy suddenly turn into a demon without her noticing?!
At that, the cult leader blinked his sparkling, multicolored eyes twice. "Huh? Because I want to be with An-chan forever~"
Fujiwara An: "..."
She couldn't be bothered with him.
This time, she'll stake every last bit of her dignity on making Muzan disintegrate under the sunlight.
"Sun Breathing, Scorching Bone Sunburst."
Muzan's Perspective:
There were two people Kibutsuji Muzan hated most, which really meant he was terrified of them.
One was the red-haired, red-eyed Demon Slayer Corps swordsman Tsugikuni Yoriichi, who wore hanafuda earrings. His innate talent and original Sun Breathing style had nearly driven Muzan to the brink.
The other was the navy-haired, blue-eyed swordswoman Fujiwara An, who lived in the same era and used a Sun Breathing style almost identical to Yoriichi's. Though she wasn't as absurdly powerful as the first, she still helped cut off nearly 200 chunks of his flesh.
At least he'd been fast enough to run away.
Thanks to his talent for lying low, Kibutsuji Muzan didn't dare show himself until both of them had passed away.
He'd thought that once he got past that obstacle, the rest of his demon life would be smooth sailing. But nobody told him Fujiwara An would be reincarnated, and with her memories intact!
Invited by a newly turned demon who was a cult leader, Muzan strolled leisurely through the halls of the Eternal Paradise Cult, treating it like a sightseeing trip. Then a navy-colored figure caught his eye, and a flash of her blade nearly cut him to pieces.
His demonic eyes widened, veins bulging, and he hurriedly ran for it.
Kibutsuji cursed and grumbled. That dimwit Douma had actually hidden Fujiwara An, a walking calamity, inside his cult.
Then he unilaterally cut off all contact with Douma.
Don't ask why. He was scared.
After hiding away for another hundred years, Muzan finally poked his head out again.
He nodded.
Yes, this time it should be safe.
But one day, while he was out on the street doting on his new wife and children, he ran into that navy-colored figure again.
Fujiwara An looked at Muzan, who was cosplaying as a modern dance king and looked more like a demon than a human, and bashfully waved. "Hello! Fancy seeing you again."
Hehe, bet you didn't expect me to come back, huh? ^ ^
Kibutsuji Muzan abandoned his wife and children and ran for his life. Luckily, he ran into his unreliable Upper Rank Two along the way.
Though he had always hated this demon because of their past grievances, he couldn't afford to be picky in a crisis.
"Douma, stop that woman!"
But Douma ignored him, instead blushing and gazing dreamily at the woman chasing Muzan.
His voice was sickeningly sweet. "Do your best, An-chan! Once you kill Lord Muzan, I'll marry you!"
Muzan stumbled.
Damn it, what an idiot.
He'd always known this guy couldn't be trusted. Though angry, Kibutsuji Muzan quickly pulled himself together and immediately summoned the other Upper Ranks to protect him.
But not one answered, even after half a day.
Muzan felt his world collapse. Who could have imagined that the mighty Demon King would return after a thousand years and still be left all alone?
Fate itself was out to get him.
