Amid the wars in Lingnan, eight-year-old Su Yusheng was orphaned. After many upheavals, he followed his uncle's family to Yong'an Prefecture, where he was sold to the Gu family as a child husband.
Su Yusheng was young and naive. He didn't understand what a child husband was. He only knew that from then on he would have enough to eat and warm clothes, and that he had to take good care of Gu Shi'an, who was two years younger than him.
Unfortunately, his little brother didn't seem to like him.
But that was all right. He was patient. He would pick fruit, tell stories, and make dolls. One day, he would surely make him happy.
Gu Shi'an was a boy without a mother. Though only six, he was already used to cocooning himself away. He knew he wasn't liked, and had no intention of changing that.
Who would have thought his father would go out and come back with a new son? Now he had to share his food and clothes with him. And the little rascal who had stolen his father's attention even came over grinning to brag about it.
Disgusting! Gu Shi'an couldn't stand Su Yusheng. He had felt that way ever since they were little.
When he heard that his father had given up on having the two of them marry and planned to choose the neighbor's son, Da Huzi, as Su Yusheng's husband instead, Gu Shi'an was overjoyed.
But one day, he secretly followed Su Yusheng. From far away, he saw him laughing and chatting with Da Huzi, and the sight suddenly stung his eyes. Gu Shi'an's anger flared.
“What are you two doing!”
