Shao Kai receives a piece of clothing from a business partner.
Xia Minghua plays on his phone, pretending not to care, but keeps glancing over out of the corner of his eye. After a while, he can’t take any more of Shao Kai wandering around with his buttons undone. “Who are you dressing like that for at home?”
Shao Kai: “For you, of course. Do you like it, darling?” (raises an eyebrow)
Reader’s Guide:
1. Both are each other’s first and only partners, and it’s one-on-one from beginning to end. At heart, this is about two devoted people learning to make room for each other in their lives again. The romance isn’t very angsty, but the plot is (at least, I think it’s a little angsty).
2. People from the entertainment industry appear, but neither lead is part of it. The entertainment-industry setting is entirely fictional, with no real-life inspirations, and exists solely to serve the plot.
3. The story uses flashbacks. The chapter titles indicate the timeline: N is the present, P is the past, and N.P means the two are interwoven. I’ve heard some people don’t like this style, so I wanted to mention it.
4. There are lesbian and single-by-choice supporting characters, but their stories are only briefly mentioned. Please keep that in mind if it bothers you.
