[Rekindled Love / Difference in Status / Blind First, Love Later]
A down-to-earth heroine who loves handsome faces vs. a once-privileged hero who has fallen from grace
Blurb:
After graduating from college, Zhen Miao can't find a job, so she becomes a nanny for a wealthy family. She first meets their young master, Bei Xiling, when he comes home for the summer holidays.
In the study, the young man chats and laughs with his friends, beautiful and refined, like a little prince from a comic book.
Amid an unusually quiet moment and the knowing looks exchanged by those around her, Zhen Miao realizes she's been staring at the young master of the Bei family, completely entranced.
As she flees in embarrassment, she hears someone tease behind her, "Looks like another Cinderella is dreaming again."
Through the gap in the not-quite-closed door, she hears Bei Xiling say, casually, "You have to let people believe in fairy tales if they want to."
His tone is as light as his exquisitely handsome profile, elegant and cold.
After two years working for wealthy families, she's learned to recognize that kind of condescending pity.
Zhen Miao isn't Cinderella. She doesn't believe in fairy tales.
The second time she sees Bei Xiling is after a skiing accident leaves him blind. The young master is no longer surrounded by his former air of privilege. He lies silently in bed, despondent as a withered tree.
Looking at his unkempt face, Zhen Miao sighs. Such a handsome face, what a waste.
The blind young master is temperamental, so Zhen Miao carefully reads fairy tales to him in clumsy English at his bedside.
She's learning English on the clock.
Nannies who speak English have an easier time finding new jobs and getting a raise.
From Little Red Riding Hood to Snow White, and then Cinderella.
At last, one day, the young master, who has been refusing food and waiting to die, can't help speaking in a hoarse voice to correct her pronunciation, which she's gotten wrong countless times.
Zhen Miao has an epiphany: The young master may be blind, but he isn't mute!
And so she gets herself a human audio pen: wherever she doesn't know, she can tap and ask.
The fireworks of that blind summer were as brief as a dream, yet so blazing and brilliant that they lit up the rest of her otherwise ordinary life.
So when she successfully changes jobs and gets a raise, a friend takes her out to enjoy herself. Seeing the photos of the men there, she can't help crying.
They're so ugly, and so expensive.
Suddenly, she starts missing that beautiful little blind guy.
As they say, when you're young, you shouldn't sleep with anyone too dazzling.
-
When they meet again, the once-blind young man is now a wildly successful business tycoon.
Zhen Miao huddles in a corner, praying he won't recognize her. But the man advances step by step, grabs her wrist, and pins her against a table in full view of everyone.
"Still trying to fool me?" His gaze burns, his voice hoarse. "How long were you going to fool me this time?"
Bonus scene:
After their reunion, Zhen Miao once again loses herself staring at his face. When Bei Xiling finally sees the look in her eyes, his beautiful eyes narrow slightly.
Baby, what is it you like?
Me?
My face?
Or my body?
Reading notes:
1. The protagonists' names don't allude to anything. Their names are paired: Zhen, meaning "real," for the heroine, and Jia, meaning "fake," for the aloof, lofty hero.
2. The heroine gets a raise every time she changes jobs. She's genuinely honest and not an assertive person.
3. The heroine doesn't use her real name while working at the hero's house.
4. Sweet romance, both leads' first and only, happy ending.
5. Updated daily at 8 p.m.
Theme: You have to look with your heart to see what matters.
Hahahahahaha, the young master is very polite.
The reason why the heroine wears this bracelet cannot withstand scrutiny. The hero is still in this city, and it is a gathering of celebrities. There is a high possibility that the hero will appear here.
Why does the heroine seem to have not grown up? When the employer expresses ambiguity, the heroine can refuse politely and forcefully. It is not a feudal society. Such a semi-rejection attitude can easily be understood as acquiescence and push the envelope. It is like the heroine's employer does not feel the heroine's rejection.
