Hello, everyone. My name is Huiyue Tao, and I’m sort of an idol.
As for my fame, well, I’m miles ahead in popularity polls, I’ve won so many awards I can barely keep track, and advertisers are fighting to sign me. That’s all.
And then... then I got kidnapped.
The bad news: My manager refused to pay the ransom.
The good news: The handsome stranger kidnapped alongside me, Sita, was incredible. He took on seven men at once and fought his way out of the gang’s hideout with me!
We were strangers, but we’d been through thick and thin together. We grabbed a bowl of ramen in the suburbs, and were just about to go our separate ways when a bunch of men in black suits appeared at the door and opened fire on me without mercy!
With my life in danger, I immediately clung to Sita. After he demanded the outrageous sum of three billion from me, he swiftly took out our pursuers.
Sita: Pay up.
Me: The money’s in my account.
Sita: Go get it.
Me: For a transfer that big, I have to go to the central bank in City O.
Sita: ...
And so, I became a cash-strapped but tough-talking employer, while Sita became my short-tempered but reliable bodyguard. Together, we set off for City O.
The road was... quite the roller coaster.
Sita: Any idea where this horde of assassins is coming from?
Me: No clue! I’m just an ordinary, wildly popular, world-class, most-beautiful-girl idol!
Sita: ...You can leave out all those extra qualifiers.
After countless hardships, we finally boarded the train to City O. Just a few more hours, and I’d be back in my old world, where everyone adored me. No more sleeping rough, no more hiding from people!
And then... then one of the assassins on the train stabbed me, and I passed out.
When I woke up, I was tied to my seat. Our pursuers were sprawled all over the place, and Sita was sitting across from me, pointing a gun at my head.
Sita: What are you, exactly?
Me: ??? I’m not a thing. I’m a person.
“A person?” Sita slowly shifted the muzzle of his gun toward my abdomen. “A person’s blood can’t be blue.”
I glanced at the red wound, blood trickling from it, and said weakly, at a loss for words:
“Mr. Sita, I didn’t know you were color-blind.”
[Cyberpunk × Road Trip × Hilarious Banter × Occasional Passion]
Oblivious Angel × Short-Tempered Straight Man
This novel is a companion piece to Playing House on the Brink of Death. A few characters appear in both, but I’ll do my best to make this story easy to read on its own. Of course, it’d be even better if you’d like to read the prequel too!!!
Please add it to your collection QWQ

Reading Guide
[Important] The entire story is told in third person. Only the synopsis is in first person!
1. Updates at 6 p.m. If there’s no update by then, there won’t be one that day. I have a huge stockpile of chapters.
2. This is a completely fictional setting, my take on cyberpunk.
3. Pure romance, one-on-one pairing, with a shifting perspective and an abundance of foreshadowing.
4. Both leads have their strengths and flaws. If you can’t accept that, feel free to leave.
5. There will be a fair amount of supporting-character and fight scenes.
6. Corrections and criticism are welcome. I’ll do my best, so please don’t give up on me! It’d be even better if you could color in the teal star.
Theme: A noble soul is worth more than anything
