Inspired by real people.
We meet beneath Lion Rock, and there is always more joy than sorrow.
"This city can hold countless people for a while, but it may not have room for everyone to stay."
2023, Hong Kong, the third year after the pandemic.
Lin Nianzhi, 23, comes from the north and moves to Hong Kong for graduate school on a scholarship. She has lived in a damp single room and calculated how every tutoring fee could help cover the rent. She studies social mobility in Hong Kong, only to realize that her own life is one of the data points: she can neither climb higher nor go back.
Lin Siying, 19, is from Hong Kong and has just returned from studying in Britain. She lives in her father's house and takes the future lightly. She knows she will find her way eventually, or rather, her life never needed a way out in the first place. She has no particular attachment to the world, and can't be bothered to fit in or resist. She is tired of socializing, yet still goes out drinking in Lan Kwai Fong as usual.
The two girls, both surnamed Lin and from utterly different backgrounds, become roommates in an apartment in Hung Hom. One bedroom, one living room, two worlds. In this city, they pass each other by, walking side by side for a brief stretch.
Later, aboard the Star Ferry, their fingers brush by accident.
Lin Siying: "I'm drunk. Will you help me, please?"
Lin Nianzhi: "..."
Gazing at the nighttime view of Victoria Harbour, Lin Siying suddenly asks, "Do you like Hong Kong?"
Lin Nianzhi is silent for a second. "...I don't know."
Lin Siying smiles softly. Her tone sounds like a joke, yet also like some unspoken feeling.
"Do you like me, then?"

Theme: It is a pity that I still think of you.
It's also good to stop at this chapter. Nian Zhi's thesis continued as the whole text progressed, but in this chapter there was a slight turning point. Whether it is self-healing that life always has a little sweetness, or a simple mind that must stand firm no matter where it is, it is a mind that is mindful and cultivates. I like the author's unhurried narrative pace. Good luck with your studies!
The sky is blue waiting for misty rain, and I am waiting for you [spread flowers] [spread flowers] [spread flowers] Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!!!
Are you going to write a thesis now? Madam?
Previously I saw Master Xu's record of a young man who came to work in Hong Kong and lived in a 2k subdivided room for 4 people. It was really cramped.
Isn't this going to be a trap? This book is really nice and real
It's beautiful, I'm serious
It turns out that I am really preparing for the exam. Come on, author 💪
Let's not talk about it when her mother gives her money. If she doesn't give her money, she will force her to do things. She will teach others how to do things, and she will give her money. She also said that she would support her and don't say such disgusting things.
Give him a shit and don't turn him into a lunatic. If you give him 3,000 for exploitation, you should transfer 7,000 back to the capitalist. This kind of person gives birth to a child just to make him a blood bag.
