My Blind Date Turned Out to Be My High School Teacher

A gloomy younger wolf-cub seme x a gentle older shou, the white moonlight of his heart.

Wei Lu, 26 years old, came out three years ago and is all alone.

When his rotten friend forces him into a blind date, Wei Lu can only find it ironic: So now gay people can go on blind dates out in the open?

His date is supposedly six years older, a high school teacher, so pure-hearted that he's never been in love even though he's past thirty.

Pure-hearted? Wei Lu scoffs inwardly, attending the date with a touch of self-destructive malice.

Through the floor-to-ceiling window of the cafe, Wei Lu first sees a silhouette:

Slim and quiet, with the nape of his neck slightly bowed, white as a fragile piece of jade in the sunlight.

Not bad to look at!

The irritation in his heart strangely subsides a little. Wei Lu pushes open the door, and the wind chime rings softly.

In the tiny cafe, only that person remains immersed in the pages of his book, utterly unaware of the commotion around him. Sunlight dances on his slightly curled hair. He is so absorbed... like a painting.

Wei Lu approaches, deliberately softening his steps, and stops beside the table, his shadow falling over it.

"Hello, are you Teacher Shen?"

The man looks up at the sound of his voice.

Time seems to freeze in an instant.

A pair of clear eyes, deep enough to reflect a person's image, are veiled by the haze of someone just drawn away from a book. His thick lashes flutter like startled butterfly wings.

They land, with pinpoint accuracy, on the most secret point of Wei Lu's aesthetic taste, dormant for years.

But... those eyes...

Wei Lu's pupils suddenly contract.

Fragments of the darkest yet warmest memories of his youth, which he had deliberately buried deep, surge up wildly.

His Adam's apple bobs. Almost gritting his teeth, he speaks:

"Are you... Teacher Shen from Class 7, Senior Year, Ling'an No. 1 High School?"

The beautiful eyes across from him widen. Confusion instantly gives way to shock and panic. The book in his hand drops onto the table with a slap, splashing a few drops of brown coffee.

"Wei... Lu?!" His voice trembles with disbelief, the end of it nearly breaking.

Teacher Shen.

The Teacher Shen who secretly slipped him a piece of candy every day during the bleakest, most hopeless years of his youth;

The Teacher Shen who stood in front of him with trembling hands, trying to protect him as he fought with street thugs;

The Teacher Shen who had refused to give up tutoring him, even after his parents had declared they were done with him.

Wei Lu summons all the strength in his life, trying to force a smile that will put his teacher at ease.

But the man across from him only bows his head deeply, so ashamed he could almost die.

In his 32 years of life, Shen Yue has only once mustered the courage to go on a blind date, only to run into a former student across the table.

He awkwardly pulls his hand back and tugs at his sleeve.

Much later, Wei Lu discovers that when Teacher Shen stood in front of him all those years ago, it wasn't just his hands that were trembling. His heart, just as battered and broken, was still desperately trying to protect someone else.

He longs for his teacher to keep protecting him, and vows that from now on, he will protect his teacher's "pain."

Content warning: The seme has childhood trauma, and the shou has a pain-seeking tendency. They heal each other as they fall in love.
