Yi Wei's first love died for her.
It took her a long time to realize, belatedly, that she loved him.
A bionic human was sent to her home. She gave him the same name as her first love, installed her first love's memory chip, and recreated his face and beauty mark beneath his eye.
Every day, she told him the words she'd never managed to say: "I love you."
But one day, she saw those beautiful eyes suddenly fill with tears.
Why did her bionic human look so pained and heartbroken?
In a low, soft voice, he asked her, "Who do you love?"
·
Cheng Jun.
He knew it was the name of the person she loved.
It had once been his name, too.
·
The bionic human gave himself a new name, pulled out his memory chip, gouged out his eyes, and cut away his beauty mark. His body leaking pale blue machine fluid, he stood before her, his face unrecognizable.
He opened his chest, snapped his metal frame, and retrieved a sparkling crimson chip from the dense circuitry inside.
That was his electronic heart.
He placed it in her hands.
"He could die for you. So can I."
He spoke haltingly, his deep voice threaded with the crackle of a cold electrical current.
Yi Wei cradled his electronic heart and studied him in silence.
It seemed as if she could crush his true feelings with a single squeeze.
How ridiculous. How could a bionic human have a true heart?
True feelings. Something she didn't even have.
·
Just as Yi Wei was considering whether to accept those true feelings,
her dead first love came back.
Reader's Guide:
1. One-on-one romance. The bionic male lead will suffer, but I have plenty of ways to write a happy ending! Really!
2. The blurb will be revised. The core trope, a bionic human stand-in, will not change, so feel free to bookmark it!
3. I'll add more if I think of anything (three points makes it look more official!)
