Everyone in the younger generation of the wealthy elite knew that although the Fu and Wen families had been family friends for generations, their heirs, Fu Yanli and Wen Shuhe, couldn't stand each other. They were sworn enemies who clashed at every turn.
Just when everyone thought the families' friendship would end with this generation, the two sworn enemies fell for each other and got married. After the wedding, they were exceptionally loving.
Even now, plenty of people still shook their heads and said, "It's like something out of a ghost story."
Fu Yanli thought so too.
His sworn enemy and contract wife had lost her memory, and to maintain their loving-couple image, he had no choice but to put work aside and look after her for a while.
At first, watching Wen Shuhe make up stories about how much they loved each other, then look doubtful but force herself to believe them, annoyed him, but he couldn't help smirking. Playing a trick or two on the sworn enemy he'd always disliked wasn't so bad.
But gradually, she started acting coquettish with him, getting handsy from time to time, and asking for kisses and cuddles. As he fought his revulsion and forced himself to smile, he realized there was a serious problem: she seemed to have actually fallen for it!!!
--
After Wen Shuhe woke up,
she was told that she was a wealthy heiress who had foolishly run off to become a nobody in the entertainment industry. On top of that, she had a handsome, rich, domineering CEO for a husband.
She looked at the gorgeous man gazing at her with deep affection. In a voice so lovely it made her tingle, he tenderly called her, "Honey."
She shuddered with disgust, held back the urge to slap him across the room, and began questioning her entire life: Were they really the model couple everyone said they were???
If so, why did just looking at his face make her so annoyed?
Wen Shuhe, suspicious, did some investigating.
Her parents looked pleased. "Yanli worships you. He gives you everything you want, and wouldn't dare disagree with a single thing you say."
Her best friend gave her a teasing look. "You two are so lovey-dovey, you'd think you were newlyweds instead of an old married couple."
Her agent and assistant were full of envy. "Mr. Fu is so busy, but he's never missed a single holiday or anniversary, big or small."
Wen Shuhe: "..."
Oh no.
She looked down at the evidence on her phone that seemed to suggest she'd been cheating.
Not only had she cheated, she had apparently grown to hate her seemingly perfect husband.
Watching Fu Yanli treat her with such tender attentiveness while she had amnesia, Wen Shuhe felt a pang of guilt. She took out her phone and searched: How to make it up to your husband after cheating on him (when you have no feelings for him)
--
One late night, some time later.
In the dim, silent room, Fu Yanli stared broodingly at the marriage contract he'd hidden on the coffee table.
Base and dark thoughts grew wildly with the night: He hoped and prayed that her memory would never return...
[Bonus scene]
When Wen Shuhe bear-hugged him,
Fu Yanli forced out a stiff smile, barely resisting the urge to push her away. He sneered inwardly: You'll be disgusted once you remember.
When she pinned him down and tried to force a kiss on him,
his heart gave a start. He narrowed his eyes and warned her, "You'll regret this."
When she wore a sexy nightdress and pushed him onto the bed,
he pictured the look of disgust she'd wear once her memory returned. Coming back to his senses at the edge of losing control, he turned his face away and, in a hoarse voice, tried to warn her bitterly: "You really will regret this!"
