Third-person, pursuer's POV
A few content warnings first:
1. Not recommended for readers who enjoy gksk.
2. Not recommended for readers who like weak pursuers or pursued characters, or characters with a fawning, submissive disposition.
3. Neither lead is perfect, and some plot points may be controversial. Please don't map them onto real life.
4. After the pursued character returns for revenge, there will be a period of near-forced possession, meaning the pursuer's wishes aren't respected.
Brief summary: A top who transmigrates into a cultivation novel takes a bottom as his disciple. To escape the world of the book and save the world along the way, he chooses to kill his disciple. But the disciple doesn't die at all. He turns into a male ghost and comes back to demand an explanation. I haven't figured out the middle yet. Anyway, in the end, the top falls in love too and chooses to stay in this world and live with the bottom.
This story takes place in the same world as The Immortal Sect, but at a different time.
Character setup, roughly: A top who seems gentle but is utterly decisive in his actions x a pursued character who seems cold but only longs for the top to favor him.
As usual... no matter how things go in the beginning... the top will genuinely fall in love later and return the other's intense affection. They'll dote on each other.

You killed your disciple, and in the middle of the night he comes back dressed in red, like a ghost, and says he wants to marry you. Are you going to marry him or not? Answer already. You have to marry him even if it kills you.
Xie Yunlan was working late at home on his year-end report when, as expected and yet unexpectedly, he dropped dead.
A System suddenly appeared and told him that the protagonist of a certain small world had gone off course. Not only had he failed to become a god, he had also fallen into demonic corruption. To protect world peace, Heaven's Will had selected a new protagonist. Xie Yunlan's mission was to help that protagonist kill the invincible villain, and then he could return to the real world.
So Xie Yunlan took over a corpse and became the Wudang Sect's Sixth Elder. While going down the mountain to exterminate demons, he met a dying child begging for help. He hadn't planned to get involved, but the child clung stubbornly to his pant leg, so Xie Yunlan had no choice but to bring him back to Wudang and take him as his disciple.
The child grew bigger and bigger, until the day he came of age. During the birthday banquet Xie Yunlan had prepared for him, the System suddenly blurted out a question:
[Huh... Why does this kid look so familiar?]
[?]
[The more I look... the more he resembles the villain, doesn't he?]
[...Didn't you say the villain was the ruler of the Ghost Realm?]
[Right.]
[Then how did he turn into a child?]
[Could his demonic corruption have happened early?]
[...I'm pretty tempted to become corrupted right now.]
During an outing on a mission, Xie Yunlan killed his disciple. He told him that the only one to blame was the fact that all of this was fake, and that he just wanted to go home.
He thought he would be able to go home right away, but the System told him he couldn't leave yet. He had to wait until the protagonist became a god before he could return unharmed.
Xie Yunlan: Want to get slapped?
He urged the protagonist to cultivate with all his might. Then one night, his disciple appeared before him dressed in red, dragging a sword, his hair hanging loose, and said:
"Master, I'm back. Are you happy?"
"I heard that once two people become Dao companions, they'll share life and death."
"I think that's a good idea."
