What Kind of Joke Is a Genin Defecting?

Reborn as the son of an ordinary pair of Konoha ninja, he thought his life would always be quiet and uneventful.

Then, when he was six and started at the Ninja Academy, a voice claiming to be a System suddenly rang in his head.

...To stay alive, I had no choice but to kill my teammate after he was infected by a virus.

That was the beginning of my defection at the age of eleven, before I had even become a chunin.

As blood splattered across my face, I asked the System, "Is death really a release?"

For once, the System's voice was gentle. "I only know that you did nothing wrong."

When I was writing this at school, I couldn't quite remember the timeline, so I changed when students graduate from the Ninja Academy.

This follows the original work's setting, but doesn't take part in its plot. There are many original characters and some personal worldbuilding.

Not a traditional Wagatsuma. The transmigrator has amnesia at first and recovers it in the middle of the story. He's a model student, and his thoughts will clash with both Wagatsuma's and the ninja's way of thinking.
