Chu Pianran was famously a beautiful dummy on the honor roll at Nancheng No. 1 High School.
She could just about take care of herself, knew nothing about romance, and only turned into a different person in the exam hall. Every day, she did nothing but study and grin like a fool, until she met Lu Suizhi, a genius boy from the neighboring school, at a friend's birthday party.
"I heard you scored one point higher than me on the city's first mock math exam?"
Lu Suizhi's eyes were utterly cool. "I'm not interested. Please move aside."
The next second, the milk tea in Chu Pianran's hand splashed all over him. She swore it was absolutely an accident T T
Lu Suizhi never expected that from then on, the little butterfly would keep fluttering around him.

"Be my study buddy."
Lu Suizhi looked at the girl blocking his way. "Why?"
Chu Pianran came up with an answer on the spot. "We go to different schools, so I don't have to worry about you stealing my first place."
Lu Suizhi did not spare her feelings. "But I'll compete with you for the top science score in Nancheng."
That only made Chu Pianran even less willing to let him go. She dragged him into a nearby alley, and before she could threaten him, she noticed something even more interesting. "Lu Suizhi, your ears are red."

Later, everyone around them said the two of them had found themselves the strongest possible rival, and suggested they settle things between themselves and become one.
After the college entrance exam, Chu Pianran disappeared for the entire summer. Then, after Jingbei University began its fall semester, Lu Suizhi cornered her between the library shelves as she tried to run away. "You kissed me on the sly and now you're not going to pursue me? I don't agree."
