Growing-Up Romance / Age Gap
One takes a bold dive into the sea of love, the wise-tree type.
One is a devoted wife and mother, always looking after the whole family, the evergreen type.
Not long after Bai Lingwen was born, her parents started fighting over a divorce, and kept it up for years. By the time she was old enough to start middle school, she still wasn't registered in the household records.
She had no memory of that farce. All she knew was that she had been awarded to her father and raised by her paternal grandparents. When the time finally came to register her, a paternity test revealed that she wasn't her father's daughter at all.
The Bai family had been raising someone else's child for over a decade!
The family erupted into chaos. That very night, they packed her up and dumped her at her biological mother's house. But her mother had already built a new, unbreakable family that had no room for this bag of old baggage, so they tidied her up and sent her right back to the Bai family.
Bai Lingwen couldn't hear, but she felt everything more keenly than anyone.
The Bai family's eldest daughter had been deaf since birth. Her family doted on her and protected her, raising her to think highly of herself and believe wholeheartedly that she was heaven's chosen one. Just looking at her name made her feel certain that she was destined to be extraordinary.
They had held her up so high for so many years. Then, overnight, she fell and became a bag of unwanted trash that no one would take responsibility for. Everyone wanted to throw her out immediately, as far away as possible.
Just then, a sign language teacher named Gan Song entered her life, becoming the lifesaving medicine she had no choice but to cling to...
Gan Song's father was actually his maternal cousin, which meant his parents were cousins. But he didn't have to agonize over whether to call him Dad or Cousin, because both his parents had passed away long ago, leaving him with a younger sister and brother to care for.
His younger sister, Gan Liu, had been deaf from birth. His younger brother, Gan Bai, was better off, with all four limbs intact and all five senses working, but he simply couldn't understand what people said. Gan Song was the only one who had won the genetic lottery and turned out normal.
In college, Gan Song specifically studied sign language so he could communicate with Gan Liu. Unfortunately, before he had gotten very far, Gan Liu went off to reunite with their parents.
So when he first met Bai Lingwen, she reminded him of his late sister. He never expected Bai Lingwen to inexplicably latch onto him.
And then his idiot younger brother even brought her home!
The next day, Gan Song called to arrange to send her back. The woman on the other end said, "How about this: give me fifty thousand, and Guoguo is yours."
