The NPC Doesn't Want to Become a Player

Miura Taketada, a permanent romanceable NPC appearing in various instances, gained self-awareness while his personal story was being updated after the achievement "Complete the Miura Taketada route a hundred million times" was unlocked.

While inside another player's chosen instance, [Ability City - Yokohama], Miura Taketada stumbled upon a player interface.

His past memories came flooding back. Having absorbed all the memories of his other selves, Miura Taketada had no interest in using the interface to become some kind of fourth calamity. He only wanted to drive all the players away and never deal with them again.

To realize his ambition, Miura Taketada began laying plans on every front. As he quietly built up his strength, he still couldn't find any players. Then, amid a massive explosion in Yokohama, he discovered a character who looked like a player in a childlike state.

- Orange hair, bright and distinctive coloring, delicate features.

- The dot on the minimap was a different color from everyone else's: black and red.

- He opened the interface to inspect the character. Race: ???

And most importantly, the interface refused to let Miura Taketada kill him.

Miura Taketada: "..."

So that's why he couldn't find the player in the underworld before. The player was still in preschool?

Prevented by the interface from killing the player, Miura Taketada expressionlessly wrapped him in his coat and held him close. With the highly practiced technique of someone holding a child, Miura Taketada planned to take on the role of his adoptive father.

- Based on his experience, the father-and-son romance route was relatively niche.

He absolutely couldn't lose!

In the future, after learning that Nakahara Chuuya wasn't a player but a real child, Miura Taketada couldn't sleep in the middle of the night. He sat up and slapped himself twice.

- He really was awful, being so barbed with an actual child.

Notes:

1. The protagonist is career-oriented and will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

2. Chuuya isn't a player. The protagonist will quietly let his imagination run wild.

3. The pairing is Nakahara Chuuya. Chuuya is very doted on, and the Flags won't be killed off.

4. Chuuya is the bottom: Nakahara Chuuya x Miura Taketada (the order matters).

5. Not quite a child-rearing story? Not quite a Mr. and Mrs. Smith trope.

Theme: Transcend identities and treat everyone equally.
