The Host Never Tries to Improve

Tang Zhitiao gets hit by a book and transmigrates into an old-school romance novel as a cannon-fodder female supporting character, but she's been given a script about saving the world.

Tang Zhitiao (sternly): What exactly does saving the world of the novel involve?

System (earnestly): That's something you'll have to figure out for yourself, Host. You can't rely on the System for everything.

Tang Zhitiao: What the hell are you even good for? In that case, I guess I'll have to throw myself into the lake...

System: No!! The mission will automatically trigger at key points. You just need to correct the plot as instructed. You can also refer to the original story and use the System Shop to help you. Please don't do anything rash!

Tang Zhitiao: That's all? I'm a little jealous of that impostor female lead's protagonist's halo. Since we're all mission-takers, shouldn't we be treated equally?

System (guiltily): ...I don't think there's anything else.

Tang Zhitiao: As a supporting character, I feel terrible. Since things have come to this, I can only...

System: Wait, wait! I've unlocked the "Danger Alert" feature for you.

Tang Zhitiao was satisfied.

The mission doesn't seem as difficult as she imagined, because all she does is watch the drama unfold, and the mission progress keeps going up on its own.

Tang Zhitiao: I'm not trying to brag, but this little mission is a piece of cake.

The System is dramatically narrating the upcoming plot in her mind. In a moment, the female lead will sprain her ankle on the stairs and fall into the arms of an important male character, just like in countless Mary Sue romance novels. Their eyes will meet, and sparks will fly between them.

Then comes the famous red-eyed, waist-grabbing scene, followed by all sorts of intimate antics...

Tang Zhitiao: Yikes, old-school Mary Sue romance really is terrifying!

But in reality, the female lead twists her ankle and wobbles, on the verge of falling. The man beside her immediately uses his evasion skill, and the female lead goes thump onto the stairs.

Female lead: ?

???: Miss, brain damage is an illness, and it needs treatment. Stay home until you recover, so you don't affect other people.

Tang Zhitiao: ? What is going on? Has he been possessed too?

As the saying goes, the gifts fate bestows have already had their price secretly marked.

"..."

Tang Zhitiao (on alert): This isn't right. Why are they looking at me so strangely?
