In modern times, Xie Yun is unexpectedly reborn in the Great Zhou Dynasty. Right after her rebirth, her father dies, her relatives turn against the family, and her widowed mother and young brother are bullied. To escape a life at the bottom of society, where others can exploit her at will, she decides to support her younger brother's studies so he can take the imperial examinations. But what can they do when the family is so poor? Combining the memories of the original owner with the perspective and knowledge she gained as a modern editor, Xie Yun begins producing and selling all kinds of study guides for the examinations.

Heh... You ask about the provincial exam?

I haven't put together a guide for that one yet.

She had thought her younger brother was only of average intelligence, and that if he worked himself to the bone and passed the scholar exam, the whole family would be satisfied. With the privileges of a scholar, they could rise to a higher social class. Who knew her study-guide business would become more and more popular, while her younger brother grew more and more adept at his studies? After passing the scholar exam, he wanted to become a provincial graduate; after that, he wanted to become a jinshi.

Fine, then. He could keep studying, and she would keep selling study guides for the provincial and metropolitan examinations, too.

Now that the study guides were taken care of, shouldn't she start offering exam prep classes as well?
