1. Jiang Ye is short on money and plans to package himself as a sweet little pushover to sell to Lin Luyuan.

3. In his third year as Lin Luyuan's kept man, Jiang Ye's act fell apart, so he decided to stop pretending altogether.
Jiang Ye lifted his chin and looked at Lin Luyuan, seated in his chair. "Nobody raised me or taught me any better. This is just how I am. Everything before was an act. I only wanted your money. Pay me, and I'll pretend to be good, or even be your dog."
Lin Luyuan stared at him for a while. "If that's the case, then please me. I can give you everything you want."

He had said it himself, but when he realized Lin Luyuan was really treating him like a dog, he still felt hurt.
He had no idea how he got across the room. When he came to his senses, he had smashed the ashtray at Lin Luyuan's feet, and heard himself say:
"I won't do it."
He thought Lin Luyuan would be angry, but instead he got up and stroked Jiang Ye's hair. "You did great. I'm happy."
