Miss Mayfly's fiance was missing.
To fulfill her species' mission of reproduction, Miss Mayfly decided to find herself a new fiance on short notice.
Crouching by a pond at the foot of Lishan, Miss Mayfly watched the passersby for a long time.
Too short was no good. Ugly was out of the question. And someone who looked short-lived was an absolute no.
Her new fiance had to be tall and handsome, and preferably have a very long lifespan.
That way, the next generation they produced might live a little longer.
The turtle clan at the foot of Lishan lived longer than any other species. They said the clan leader's lifespan was as long as the heavens themselves.
After looking around for a while, Miss Mayfly decided to trick the turtle clan leader into becoming her new fiance.
The reproduction mission went smoothly.
She had a fiance. She had offspring. Miss Mayfly waited patiently for the end of her life to come.
But a month passed, then a year, then ten years…
Miss Mayfly was still alive and well.
