Sleepless and Grumpy

[Irregular updates, no VIP chapters, no rankings]

The genuinely sunny top × the pretending-to-be-cool bottom

A high schooler who is inexplicably bursting with energy and unbelievably cheerful every day × a high schooler who wakes up every morning praying the world will explode so humanity can enter the space age and he won't have to go to school anymore.

Xu Qi × Jiang Yan

Can't sleep × Always grumpy

Seventeen-year-old Xu Qi suffers from an unusual case of severe insomnia. Most people feel listless when they can't sleep, but Xu Qi stays in great spirits despite his insomnia (even excessively so).

In fact, he's more energetic than an ordinary person.

Specifically, his favorite thing to do every day is shout, "This world is so wonderful!"

Seventeen-year-old Jiang Yan is an ordinary high schooler who hates school. Every morning he drags himself out of bed to go to class like a walking corpse, wearing a cold expression all day. His motto is: "Isn't this world annoying? When will it end?"

One day, these two high schoolers with wildly different states of mind became deskmates.

Xu Qi realized that his strange insomnia seemed to be improving, but only when he was around Jiang Yan.

Taking the principle that practice is the only way to test the truth to heart, Xu Qi began deliberately sticking close to Jiang Yan and recording it all in his diary.

Including, but not limited to:

Secure his place as Jiang Yan's deskmate (√)

Go to and from school with Jiang Yan (√)

Rehearse a play with Jiang Yan (√)

Eat delicious food with Jiang Yan (√)

Someone wrote the final line, crossed it out, and wrote it again with particular solemnity:

I think I (crossed out) have fallen for Jiang Yan. (crossed out)

[I like Jiang Yan]

Reading guide:

A one-on-one school romance, following the characters through the end of their college entrance exams.

[No intimate behavior before the main characters reach adulthood.]

My take on personified designs: Xu Qi: orange shaved ice; Jiang Yan: a little pillow.

☆I drew the cover and character cards myself :D

■Xu Qi's insomnia is only a plot device and is not based on real life.

Theme: Study hard and improve every day
