You Seize It, I □□, Who's Any Better?

He caught me killing someone, giving him leverage to blackmail me.

After imprisoning me in the back courtyard, he deliberately let me know all about his political affairs and schemes.

One day, he was investigated for plotting a rebellion, and I was a grasshopper on the same rope as him. There was no way I could escape unscathed.

With a chance to escape right in front of me, how could I not seize it?

So I used a little trickery to find a powerful patron and submit an anonymous accusation, hoping to crush him for good and leave him no chance to turn things around.

Who could have known he’d clear his name and even become regent to the little emperor?

Not only had I made an enemy of him, but our ties grew ever deeper.

I thought, This time, I’m done for.

Determined to face death, I deliberately made trouble and ruined his plans again and again, hoping to die sooner. That would be better than being humiliated by him.

But he was delighted. “This is the side of you I like. Every scowl and every insult is a kind of affection.”

I... This man really is sick in the head.

What I didn’t know was that he had a reason for enduring all my provocations.
