Homebody Yun Zhi has recently become obsessed with Lan Xiao, the chaotic-evil male lead of the novel The Demon Emperor. He stays up every night shipping Lan Xiao with the obstacles he encounters on his road to becoming emperor.
How could he not, when the author describes Lan Xiao as aloof and proud on the surface, a gentleman of the righteous path, yet constantly puts him through hardships on his cultivation journey, exposing his "vulnerable" side to all kinds of villains, only for him to slap them in the face later?
So naturally, Yun Zhi became a devoted fan of Lan Xiao in the bottom role.
Then one day, Yun Zhi transmigrates into The Demon Emperor and becomes the minor villain Lan Xiao tramples underfoot: the master who bullies Su Lan Xiao at every turn in the early story...
Yun Zhi doesn't dare mistreat Su Lan Xiao anymore, but still secretly breaks the rules, keeping an eye on Su Lan Xiao and everyone around him.
The first couple he ships is Lan Xiao as the bottom with his younger, pure-hearted junior disciple as the top. Then one night, the junior disciple sneaks into his bedroom to steal his personal clothing.
The second couple is Lan Xiao as the bottom with a gloomy, beautiful fox-spirit villain as the top. But then the fox spirit goes on a rampage at Liangyi Mountain, kidnaps Yun Zhi, and declares that he wants Yun Zhi to be his wife.
The third couple is Lan Xiao as the bottom with the loyal artifact spirit of Lan Xiao's sword as the top. Yun Zhi thinks that this pairing is already so dark, surely nothing can go wrong now. But then the artifact spirit takes human form and gets into a huge fight with Lan Xiao, all because Lan Xiao won't let him get close to Yun Zhi.
Yun Zhi: ...How did things turn out like this? Did I get the top and bottom roles mixed up?
Then one night, Yun Zhi wakes to find a green snake coiled around him so tightly he can barely breathe, while the partner bond on his wrist shines brightly...
He looks up and realizes the snake is none other than his gentle, dignified, handsome and elegant favorite, Lan Xiao!
