After Jinjiang Rejected My Manuscript, I Tried a Roundabout Route to Success (No Use)

[Cringe old history. I wrote this while losing my mind. 🧎‍♀️ Don’t click!]

[Protagonist: author slave]

[Passion, chasing dreams, inspiration, no bottom line, unconventional methods]

Fang Xinjue, an unsigned Jinjiang author, missed the window for new writers and kept writing on her own until she had 90,000 words. She deleted 30,000 words while revising, submitted her work for a contract over thirty times, and locked and revised the whole manuscript four or five times. Yet every application was cruelly rejected without exception. Apart from her decent writing, everything else needed improvement. Still, she never doubted herself and imagined that she’d succeed in getting a contract by her third book.

But… she couldn’t hold out that long. She went online looking for a solution, and by sheer chance, the advice of an internet guru opened her eyes!

She decided to do whatever it took and take a roundabout route to success. So what if she had to give Haitang a try!

The author writes whatever comes to mind. If she writes any short stories in the future, she’ll put them here too. There’ll be sadness, absurdity, and everything in between. It’s a bit of a mixed bag.

The short pieces are all inspired by things that struck me. Some ideas came from videos where people do continuations of prompts. I don’t know the original sources, so if you do, please let me know in the comments. If anyone minds, I’ll delete them. I respect all original authors, thank you.

*This story is based on the author’s own experience. Only those who’ve truly succeeded can understand the heartache and exhaustion involved.

*A self-indulgent work.

*A rambling, rant-filled book. Updates and word count are irregular.

Update: I got a contract! ^o^

Theme: Do whatever it takes to get a contract
