Yukishiro Chitaki was the bride offered to the gods.
It was the dead of winter, with frost coating the snow.
If she hadn't met those two warriors who claimed to be from the Genji clan, she might well have frozen to death in the snowy night, clad in her white wedding kimono.
Her heart was full of gratitude.
That is, until they brought her into a luxurious courtyard.
Everything changed.
A Honmaru corrupted through the tenure of several previous Saniwa welcomed a new master.
From that frail woman,
they received the freedom they had long awaited.
But soon, the sword warriors were no longer satisfied.
They took human form, and their cold hearts grew warm.
Later, on countless nights,
sword warriors would quietly stand beneath the veranda, under the trees, and in other places, gazing upward.
They could no longer tell whether they were looking at the sky, the clouds, or the moon,
or at the Saniwa high above them, who refused to lower her head and spare them a glance.
"She was offered to the gods as a bride from the start.
Why can't I be that god?"
A somewhat coercive, dark story about sword warriors fighting among themselves, vying for her love and yearning for what they cannot have. Pairing undecided.
