To the World's Best Monster Gentleman

Just putting this idea here for now.

A short story, a Tendo fanfic.

Well, mostly because I realized nobody had written one.

[Blurb]

My boyfriend is Mr. "Monster."

That's what he calls himself.

Me, earnestly: "All right, Mr. Monster. Hello."

Tendo, proudly: "Mm-hmm! That's right, Miss Human!"

My days with Mr. Monster are so happy.

He sings beautifully, invites me to read the manga he likes, and hugs me when I space out... In short, he's the best Mr. Monster in the whole world.

Tendo: "Yoshi! Let's make chocolate today!"

Me: "O-okay."

That's right, on Mr. Monster's birthday, we even exchange chocolates that we made ourselves.

And so, I spent two sweet and painful years in a quiet, ordinary romance.

...Until I left the hospital and walked toward the sea.

One day, I said to Mr. Monster, "I wish I could become a monster."

Mr. Monster looked at me curiously for a long time, then narrowed his eyes. "Why?"

I answered earnestly, "Then I could be with you forever, Mr. Monster."

After a long while,

I heard Mr. Monster say softly, "You don't need to become a monster, Miss Human."

I blinked.

Before I could react, he gently cupped my face. "Because monsters never leave their masters, you know. Even death won't let you escape a monster. That's what I've heard since I was little~"

Me, shocked: "I-is that so?!"

Tendo, wagging a finger: "Mm-hmm~ That's how it is!"
