Bai Ruoshu is quiet and gentle, while Yu Zhao is a gentleman, warm and tender. Their married life was bound to be dull and uneventful.
And that seemed to be exactly what happened. After getting married, the two men treated each other with polite respect. They rarely had a chance to see each other, and their relationship never sparked into love. But to Bai Ruoshu, simply being able to spend his days with Yu Zhao was enough. He didn't demand Yu Zhao's heart.
Thinking something was one thing. Hearing it with his own ears was another.
Bai Ruoshu accidentally overheard Yu Zhao talking with his mother. Yu Zhao looked helpless, but his expression was still as gentle as ever. He sighed softly. "He's perfect in every way. It's just... he's too soft-hearted."
People with exactly the same personalities really couldn't attract one another and spend a lifetime together.
Later, the two divorced amicably and ended up serving together on the border of Sector A. Bai Ruoshu remained the same quiet, gentle Guide and doctor, but Yu Zhao seemed like a different person. His usually calm emotions were frequently out of control, to the point that it affected the daily lives of the other Guides and Sentinels.
At first, Bai Ruoshu thought Yu Zhao's heat was approaching and kindly helped soothe his mental fluctuations. But the other man's symptoms only grew worse. He suddenly underwent a full bestial transformation, his snake tail slowly coiling around Bai Ruoshu from behind. A little silver snake emerged from the other side and wound around the fluffy little white fox that had been forced to appear.
Bai Ruoshu trembled all over, his face flushed. He held back Yu Zhao's shoulder as it drew closer and met Yu Zhao's gaze, now with fully slit pupils. In a trembling voice, he said, "We're... already divorced..."
"It doesn't matter."
"This time, let me love you."
1. Bai Ruoshu (top) × Yu Zhao (bottom)
2. A gentle, slightly homemaker-ish Guide top × a warm and gentle but slightly scheming Sentinel bottom
3. The bottom chases the top, but I'm not sure if HZC can get the balance right. I might make changes depending on how it goes.
4. Illogical plot and bad writing. Don't read if that's not for you.
Theme: Companionship is the longest-lasting confession of love.
