The Demon Venerable failed to ascend, and his soul split in two. Half remained in his body, while the other half became something called a System.
Main System: Your current identity is System 0. System mission: Help the Host win over the Demon Venerable.
The Demon Venerable stared at the mission screen and sneered. "You expect this venerable one to teach someone else how to please me?"
Then he saw the cultivation points available for exchange in the System Shop.
If this venerable one can brave even molten lava to improve his cultivation, why should I be afraid to teach someone how to please me?
No one in the world understands me better than I do!

A day later, the Demon Venerable discovered something harder than cultivation:
teaching his foolish Host and winning over his own tsundere self.
"Is this how you try to win this venerable one over?"
"Damn it, did this venerable one just smile? What was I thinking!"

Before his ascension tribulation arrived, the God Realm learned that the Demon Venerable had failed to ascend and launched an extermination campaign.
For the first time, someone stood in front of the Demon Venerable to protect him.
The softhearted Host's calves trembled, but he refused to take a single step back. "You've learned to love yourself. You'll treat yourself well, won't you?"
At the moment of peril, their souls merged into one, and the Demon Venerable broke through to the peak.
The tribulation raged, and his voice rang through the heavens.
"I won't let you die."
