Xing Huan opened her eyes. A black-haired young man took her hand, his grip warm and strong, and led her onto solid ground.
"Kou?"
"Mm." The earth ninja's voice was gentle and low, like a tender shoot pushing through the soil and beginning to grow.
"I'm here."

1. The pairing is set: it's the earth ninja who loves cake.
2. The romance is a slow burn, and the plot comes first.
3. The protagonist isn't invincible from the start, but she's no pushover either. She's a heroine who grows stronger over time.
