A cool, money-loving Bodhisattva beauty x her former Crown Prince husband / marquis brother-in-law / betrothed State Preceptor
Amnesia / rival suitors / a widowed mother raising a child
Rumor has it that deep in Mount Jingling lives a goddess, clad in white with raven-black hair, so cool and ethereal that one glance is enough to steal your soul.
But the goddess of Jingling is human, and an amnesiac one at that. When she wakes, she mysteriously has a daughter and a dead former husband.
Jingling Xian and her younger sister, the Marchioness of Guibi, are very close. After a sudden turn of events, her sister decides to send someone to bring Jingling Xian and her young daughter to the capital, where she can look after them.
Worried that Jingling Xian, an orphaned widow with a child, will have no support for the rest of her life, her younger sister begs the promising young Marquis of Guibi, Rong Xi, who is Jingling Xian's brother-in-law, to arrange another marriage for her and give her a second chance at love.
Later, Rong Xi kneels beside her bed, rubbing the narcissus embroidered on her undergarment, and offers himself: “People often say that Bodhisattvas are compassionate and save all living beings. I am one of your followers too. Please, Sister Guanyin, show me some mercy.”
The goddess loves everyone. Why can't she love him?
Rong Xi never expected that his casual attempt to find a fiance for Jingling Xian would lead to the State Preceptor, Gongyi Heji, volunteering himself.
One night, the ethereal State Preceptor and fiance, Gongyi Heji, suddenly barges into her bedroom. He pins Jingling Xian between his arm and the wall, tying her hands with a scarlet-and-gold ribbon. “Lingxian, we're the ones made for each other, our love ordained by fate.”
Reborn into another life, their destined love resumes where it left off.
Her former husband has returned from the dead, now the Crown Prince of the realm, the noble Sui Jie.
Sui Jie's dark phoenix eyes fix on Jingling Xian and Gongyi Heji's clasped hands. Holding her daughter, he publicly steals the bride, wraps an arm around her waist, and declares his claim: “Ling'er, you're my Crown Princess. I'm your husband and your daughter's father.”
He paints his deceased wife as a Guanyin statue, tempting her to break her vows one step at a time.
Her former husband, brother-in-law, and fiance: the husbands are fighting... Each of them wants to be her husband.
Reader's Guide:
1. All three men are devoted to the heroine in body and heart. The brother-in-law and younger sister have their own complicated circumstances (they never had a physical relationship), and the daughter's parentage holds a mystery.
2. A battle of rival suitors, with a little melodrama.
3. Second version dated March 22, 2025. The blurb may be polished further, but the premise won't change.
4. Set in an alternate history, with many original details. Please don't nitpick historical accuracy.
